Day 1: Summer Arrival May 20, 2009

So I finally and officially made it to Los Angeles. My flights seemed really long…but, I’m sure it was due to the lack of sleep in the past 48 hours.

I was sincerely worried that I wasn’t going to make my second flight that connected in Chicago—but, I did…with 8 minutes to spare. Although, when I went to stand in line to board I got selected for a random body pat-down. Let me tell you how awkward it is to get searched in front of everyone! I mean—you kind of expect it when you’re going through security. But, not when you’re about to board the plane!

Anyways, a friend of mine came to the airport to visit and brought me lunch! She said I needed to experience In-n-Out…that hamburger was pretty good indeed!

I’m currently waiting to meet Brendan from Crossroads…my ride. I can’t help but look around the airport and wonder if any of these college-aged kids are fellow walkers. :-)

Until next time, Michelle

Down to the last few hours… May 19, 2009

Ok, so we’re down to the last few hours! I’m super excited, but also super anxious! I think the worst part is the fact that I’m worried I’ll forget something that I’m going to need for the walk.

We picked up my shoes this afternoon from the New Balance store. The question of shoes seemed to come up a lot…so,  I wanted to mention them here. They were a bit expensive…but, we went with a running shoe–1063. New Shoes *Photo from ransacker.co.uk.

I only have one layover tomorrow…it’s in Chicago. But, it’s a bit odd that the layover is only 30 minutes. I suppose you’ll hear about whether I missed my connecting flight or not. I arrive in LA quite early, so a friend and I are going to head out to lunch before I get picked up by the Crossroads peeps.

You know…I never knew it was so difficult to fit everything you need into one duffel bag! What a challenge!

Well, I guess this is it for the night…I’m pulling an all-nighter. I’m quite exhausted—but, still not fully packed.

Until next time, Michelle

Getting excited! April 7, 2009

The representative from Crossroads was here (at my college) last weekend. He took us (a few of the other walkers and I) out to dinner so that everyone could get to know eachother. Hearing everyone talk about the summer made me even more excited for it to get here!
